We may find that you’re missing certain spots when you brush, and some problems can sneak up on you without causing any pain. Plaque is a tough and resilient force to be reckoned with, and regardless of your brushing habits, it can sometimes find a way to infiltrate. Our routine preventive exams and cleanings will ensure a lifetime of positive oral health.

Fluoride and Sealants

Fluoride is a natural mineral that, when applied to our teeth, promotes a strong resilience against cavities, as well as strengthens enamel. Our fluoride treatment consists of a concentrated gel that is a highly effective preventive measure against tooth decay and cavities.

Dental sealants are a thin layer of plastic resin that is applied to the molars and acts as a barrier to prevent cavities. It fills in all the grooves and fissures that the bristles of our toothbrush have difficulty reaching. As long as the sealants remain intact, your teeth will be protected from decay.

Night Guards

You may not even realize that you are grinding or clenching your teeth at night. During our examinations we will look for signs of this kind of behavior, and if found, we can help! Our night guards are an effective tool to protect your teeth against the mighty forces of your jaws clenching. They’re small and unobtrusive, and you’ll find that the relief they provide is life-changing.

Athletic Mouthguards

There’s a reason that professional athletes wear a mouthguard during their games or events, regardless of the sport. Dental injuries are usually very quick accidents that are unavoidable, and the only protection available against them is mouthguards. At Bar Harbor Dental Group, we’ll set you up with a custom made mouthguard that fits your teeth specifically. Our mouthguards come in many colors and designs. Don’t be caught off-guard; be prepared and save yourself lots of time and money in the future, not to mention your smile!

Dental Fillings

A dental filling is a restorative material used to rebuild the function of a missing tooth structure. Fillings are typically used to restore your teeth from the result of cavity treatment or dental injury. Our fillings are a tooth colored composite material that is designed to be virtually invisible, resulting in a natural looking smile.

Dental Crowns

Jennifer Howard

A dental crown is essentially a “cap” that is custom made and placed over a tooth. This will restore the size, shape, strength, and appearance of your teeth in a natural way. Dental crowns are used when a tooth is weakened from decay, cracked or broken, severely discolored, or placed on an implant. Dr. Reznik is happy to work with implant specialists to fabricate and seat implant crowns. Dental crowns provide complete stability to the natural beauty of your smile, and after a while you’ll forget you even have them!

Dental Bridge

A dental bridge is literally used to bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth. A bridge consists of crowns on either side of the gap that are anchored onto your existing teeth, and the false tooth or teeth is in the middle. Dental bridges will restore your ability to speak and chew, distribute the forces of your bite properly, and prevent your remaining teeth from drifting out of position.

Porcelain Veneers

Veneers are a small layer of porcelain placed over your tooth to improve its appearance and can give you tremendous final results. They are wafer-thin, custom shells that permanently bond to your natural tooth. They can restore the shape of a chipped or broken tooth, improve a tooth that is discolored or worn down, and even close gaps between your teeth.

Veneers are a popular and very effective treatment. You don’t have to live with teeth that are misaligned, uneven, or irregularly shaped anymore. Veneers will give you a natural look and don’t require any special care, just standard brushing and flossing. They even resist stains!

Veneers are made to be a permanent solution that generally last between 5–10 years. They do require manipulation of the tooth that is being improved, so if you think veneers are what you want, Dr. Reznik will go over all the details to make sure this is the best solution for you and your oral health. Your natural smile is what is important to us, and we’ll do everything possible to give you the one you deserve.

Professional Whitening

Our teeth are subject to so much stress; it’s no wonder they are made up of the hardest material in our bodies. We put them through so many different elements and foods that over time they will begin to lose their natural whiteness. We don’t want anybody to be embarrassed about his or her smile, so we offer extensive and safe teeth whitening that will let you smile without a care in the world.

Professional teeth whitening is much more effective than over-the-counter products. Since Dr. Reznik is an accredited doctor, our practice has access to more powerful devices and solutions. Our teeth whitening methods are robust, yet very safe, and the treatments we offer will provide complete coverage for all of your teeth. The result is a brighter, whiter smile you’ll be proud to show off!

Root Canal Therapy

Many times, caused by trauma, cavities, or large old fillings that have leaked, a nerve dies in a tooth. In the past many teeth were lost when this happened, but  we can comfortable and efficiently save teeth through simply removing the infected portion of the tooth with high technology automated techniques. Most people are amazed how easy and pain-free this treatment is.

Extractions

If a tooth has been broken or damaged by decay, your dentist will try to fix it with a filling, crown or other dental treatment. But when there's too much damage for the tooth to be repaired, the tooth may need to be extracted — or removed — from its socket in the bone.
